The Vice President of Veterinary Operations at Hometown Veterinary Partner is a member of the executive leadership team and reports directly to the President. The VPVO will oversee the operational aspects of our veterinary hospitals, ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations while upholding our commitment to excellent patient care. The ideal candidate will be a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with substantial experience in multi-unit veterinary operations and a proven ability to mentor and guide other veterinarians. The role requires a hands-on approach, including practicing in the hospital when needed. As a respected member of the executive team, this leader is also required to give guidance and advice in clinical medical quality standards, growth plan initiatives and develop short and long-term strategies and objectives to build the HVP brand.

- Implement and monitor quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of care and operational excellence
- Actively practice in the hospital as needed, providing high-quality veterinary care and support the clinical team
- Participate in complex cases and offer guidance on treatment plans and procedures
Collaboration
- Oversee and manage the operational functions of multiple veterinary practices, ensuring efficiency and alignment with company goals
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute strategic plans for practice growth and improvement
- Analyze operational data and metrics to drive performance improvements and identify areas for development
- Ensure the delivery of exceptional client service and patient care, addressing any issues or concerns promptly
- Monitor client satisfaction and implement strategies to enhance overall client experience
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation for practices
- Ensure financial performance aligns with company targets and implement cost-control measures where necessary
- Act as an enthusiastic champion of our brand, advocating the Hometown Veterinary Partners within our community, employees and our patients.
- Provide advocacy and clinical perspective in support of the patient-centered mission, vision, values, and strategies of Hometown Veterinary Partners.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and develop staff
- Excellent clinical skills with the capacity to provide hands-on veterinary care
- Strategic thinking with a track record of implementing effective operational improvements
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff, clients, and stakeholders
- Proficient in financial management and budget oversight
- Ability to understand and anticipate business priorities and translate them into actionable strategic operational plans.
- Experience in the development and management of successful on-boarding programs, retention strategies and employee development.
- Excellent skills in conflict resolution, oral and written communication skills, strategic direction and ability to lead teams.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment with high level of integrity and ethics.
- Travel of up to 50% between practice locations
- Combination of office-based work and clinical practice
- Additional responsibilities as the company scales and the position evolves
Education, Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in veterinary operations management, including leadership roles
- Proven ability to mentor and guide veterinary professionals
- Veterinary Degree
Compensation: $180,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
